Copywriting - Taking it to the Next Level

Making a living as a copywriter is a great profession. One of my favorite things is working with different clients and learning about their unique situations and brainstorming ways to help them. Some of my other favorite things -- choosing who I work with, having control of what type of copy I write (web sites, brochures, etc) and knowing I am ultimately in control of how much income I do or don't make.
You are in control of your own destiny.
After a few years of writing copy for clients, I realized there was a next step...writing copy for myself. Developing my own products and selling those was a natural evolution to my growth. By developing my own products, teaching classes and coaching, I was able to help others in a different way – while still maintaining control of my hours and income.
I love writing copy and have no intention of stopping – however the types of copy I do write has evolved. I think as humans we naturally evolve and grow and follow different paths life takes us down. For me, this started with teaching teleclasses and adding coaching to my portfolio (my copywriting clients are in the healthcare industry) and then morphed into developing information products and services for these clients – for me a natural extension of writing marketing copy.
As your copywriting career blossoms and you're confidence in your ability to both write copy and attract client's blooms, you too may look for that next step in your career. That next step for you will more than likely be different than my next step. One of my mentors, David Neagle, once said that opportunity always comes at a place above where you are. Be open and looking for that opportunity - it presents itself in different ways.
